Like a comet blazing 'cross the evening sky gone too soon
Like the loss of sunlight on a cloudy afternoon, gone too soon.
Like a castle built upon a sandy beach, gone too soon.
A TIME TO BE BORN.... On February 20th, 1982 Aamon Jack Forbes was born at The Princess Margaret Hospital to LetaMae Riley-Forbes and the late Fitzroy Henry Forbes. A sickly infany, it was not long after his birth that his paternal grand-mother LetaMae Forbes (Mama) took him into her loving care where she nurtured him into a healthy strapping lad. As a young boy "AJ" as he was affectionately called never ventured far from Mama. It was a bond that made him cry many a days if Mama travelled to Nassau without him. A dream weaver, AJ made it known to his mom and dad that his passion was to sail the high seas- be it as a boat captain, or a marine biologist, his first word was "boat". Ever the optimist, he was always excited to see the vessels of all sorts during family outings to Potter Cay Dock during Sunday drives. AJ realized his dream of working in the ocean when he later became an avid seaman.
A TIME TO LIVE.... As a teenager AJ developed a new interest and began to share his love for the arts with those he loved dearly. He made countless friends and immersed himself in writing music solely to express himself through the written word. Spending hours at the local studio with his boys Freddie and Roscoe, a few of their songs eventually received air time on several of the local radio stations . Aamon had found his niche and voice and his perspective on life slowly changed. In fac two years after graduating from Respect Academy, here in New Providence he returened home to Andros. AJ theorized that life in Nassau, was simply a rat race and there was much more to life than the chaos of the big city. He would jokingly say, you al "could stay in the system." Aside from following his own bliss to move back home, he was it seems, a young man trapped in a wise old man state of mind. He spoke life and wisdom to all who needed counsel. He always walked a peaceful mile, choosing to walk away from drama. He believed and understood that life is precious gift from God.
Aamon knew he was but a man on borrowed time. Several weeks before his passing, he travelled to Nassau where he spoke love and peace to relatives in need of counsel. He reminded them that no trial is too great to overcome if one remember the suffering Jesus endured to set us free. He was a free spirit, a young man who celebrated life but cautioned that everything will be revealed, "God's time!"
A TIME TO LOVE... In April of 2007, AJ met the charming Lashan Smith during the Back to the Island celebrations. They soon became good friends and that relationship blossomed into a close bond, with the birth on their first child Aamoneke. The bouncing baby girl was born April 27th, 2008. A year later, August 22nd, 2009, they made their relationship official, when they became man and wife. AJ was indeed, a proud father who cherished and loved his children.
A TIME TO DIE..... In August of 2012, he started out the day preparing to do what he enjoyed most. He went fishing with friends, who were there to assist him when they estimated that he was taking too long to resurface. He had surrendered himself to his creator.
