In the early morning April 25th, 1917 a baby
girl was born to the proud parents of Clara
and William Longley at Long Bay Cays,
Andros. They named her Augusta. She was
the first child of that union. Augusta grew up
in Long Bay Cays and attended The All Age
School there.
Clara and her daughters resided in Nassau for
several years while William sought work in Florida.
Upon his return to Nassau, he took his family back
to Long Bay Cays, Andros.
Augusta, affectionately known as - "Mar" - after
leaving School relocated to Nassau to live with her
Aunt.
Several years later Augusta met, courted and married
her Elgin Heburn who predeceased her. This union
was blessed with a beautiful daughter whom they
called Olga. She was the pride of her life. They were
like two peas in a pod, when you see one you would
see the other. Olga, her daughter, slept with her every
night until her demise.
Augusta Hepburn - "Mar" - peacefully slipped into
eternity at her home on Saturday 23rd November,
2013 at the ripe age of 96 years. She was never
admitted into hospital. She was loved and cared for by
her daughter Olga.
Loving, lasting and pleasant memories will always be
in the hearts of all those who loved her.
