Albert Harris Davis was born on December 7th, 1932 to Iris and Samuel Augustus Davis, Sr. in Kingston Jamaica.
In 1957 he was joined in marriage to the lovely Monica Alfreda Pinnock with whom he fathered four children, Michael, Glendon, Steven and Andrea. They were married for 41 years at the time of my mother's passing in New York City on July 10th, 1998.
In 1967, seeking greener pastures and better opportunities, he journeyed to Nassau, Bahamas and was joined shortly thereafter by his wife and four small children.
A gifted pianist, he worked for many years in the entertainment and nightclub industry in the Bahamas, primarily with John Berkley "Peanuts" Taylor at the " Drumbeat Club". He also worked as an accountant for Eric Gibson at the " King Eric & his Knights" Club at the corner of West Bay Street and Arundel Drive.
He was passionate and focused about his music, being self taught to read , write and hear music in ways most couldn't imagine. It was a part of him, like the air we breath, and he was at his happiest and most at home when playing his piano.
Albert Davis was a quiet man, not given to public displays or showmanship. He could crack a joke and share memories from time to time but generally kept to himself. He was a disciplinarian of the highest order and did not believe in or practice sparing the rod and spoiling his four children.
When his wife and children eventually migrated to the United States, he elected to remain in the Bahamas for the rest of his life. On Thursday August 2nd, 2012, he fell asleep in Jesus, 16 weeks shy of his 80th birthday, in the city and country he loved.
