The Life and Service of Andrea Angela Adderley

Andrea Angela Adderley nee Cooper was born to the late Edgar Cooper and Maude Beatrice Sturrup on May 29th, 1948.
Her early education began at Jordan Memorial School, Southern Junior, Western Senior School and her secondary education was at St. John's College from 1961 – 1966.
While at St. John's College she was involved in sports becoming the junior female 'Victor Laudorum' and a member of the basketball team. In her senior year she became a prefect.
It was at St John's College that she determined to enter The Princess Margaret Hospital School of Nursing from which she graduated in 1969 as a Registered Nurse.
Her professional nursing career continued with studies at the John Radcliff School of Nursing (Oxford) where she became a State Registered Nurse. She later attended The Edith Greaves Maternity Hospital in Kent from which she graduated as a State Certified Midwife in 1972.
Between 1976 – 1980, she was a staff accountant at Laventhol and Horwath Chartered Accountant, Nassau Bahamas Ltd.
Between 1980 – 2003 she was an offshore banker at CIBC Trust Company (Bahamas) Ltd, serving in various positions in this company – Assistant Comptroller (1980); Manager of Operations (1984).
Having previously becoming an associate of The Bahamas Institute of Banking, she obtained in 1996 a B.SC in Professional management from Nova Southeastern University (graduating with the highest GPA in the class.
She was appointed manager of Compliance and Human Resources in 1996. She earned a MBA in 1998 from Nova Southeastern University, (graduating with the second highest GPA in the class). She was appointed Senior Manager of Operations and Director of the Trust Company 2000. During her banking career she led the staff successfully through two computer systems conversions and in 1998-1999 was appointed the 'year 2000 Focal Point' for CIBC Trust Company. She was deemed 'Achiever of the Quarter' November 1997-1998 and was nominated for the 'Exemplary Leader Award' in 1999. This award is CIBC's recognition of Excellence in Leadership.
Andrea strong points were in the areas of Human Resources and Operation Management. Setting very high standards for her self and not settling for mediocrity. This caused her to be successful in the recruitment of excellent employees and played a sizable role in motivating many to pursue higher education.
Albert Einstein said 'the value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive'. In one word Andrea was a woman who gave.
On retiring from the company in 2003, she returned to nursing between 2003-2007 and worked as a 'Sessional Registered Nurse' (2 days only) at the Elizabeth Estate Clinic.
She was a strategic thinker, a visionary who was innovative and creative. As such she was a major contributor on the job. She generosily gave of her knowledge her expertise and her skills. She was known for her loving and caring spirit as she was a peacemaker, the office nurse and a confidant to many.
In her personal life, she married Charles Adderley in 1974, and the couple has two adult sons, Barron and Sean both married and is the proud grandparents to two grandsons and two granddaughters.
Andrea and Charles worshipped regularly at St. Agnes Anglican Church where she participates in a wide range of church activities. She was a part of the Christian Formation and Evangelism Ministry, the Pastoral Care and Counseling Ministry. A member of the Anglican Church Women and The Discovery Team assisting with the hosting of the First Adult Discovery held at St. Gregory, the Great Anglican Church in Nassau and at the Anglican Church St. Monica's and St. George in the Turks and Caico's Islands.
She was a leader of the St. Cecilia Chapter which conducted Morning Prayer every (7 weeks) and a reader of the lessons and intercessions at mass and attended Bible Studies regularly.
She became a member of the Sister, Sister Group after being diagnosed with cancer of the breast in 2006. Andrea dealt with this disease courageously maintaining her disposition of being the kind loving and caring person that we all loved and admired.
On January 29th, 2014, Andrea's journey on earth being completed, she passed from her mortal remains to her heavenly existence.
