On December 2nd 1927, as the gentle breeze and warm sunshine caressed the quaint settlement of Mrs Bay, South Andros, William and Victoria Smith along with their family celebrated the arrival of a twin baby boy and girl, they christened the baby girl, Beulah Smith
While Beulah was unassuming and very quiet, she grew up with strong values and Godly principles. She was indeed a virtuous , honorable woman. At a tender age Beulah attended the Pleasant Bay All-Age School, where she remained until leaving age. Beulah was a devoted Anglican who attended Mass and Evening Song at " St. Mary's The Virgin Anglican Church" every Sunday. She was guided by her faith and believed in giving to further the works of her church, so she gave consistently , particularly to the rebuilding of the new Parish.
She loved her family and was the sole caregiver for both her parents and three(3) brothers who predeceased her. Even though she was not blessed with any children of her own, she raided her youngest sister Carmie Arena Duncombe's youngest daughter Shaunette, from three months old as her very own daughter. For a period of time, she also cared for one of her grandnieces and a grandnewphew, whom she cherished with all her heart and ensured that they were equipped with good manners and respect. Beulah enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing and straw plating.
Beulah loved to travel, and throughout the years she traveled to the United States and the Family Islands to spend time with her family. This was very gratifying for her. Beulah can best be described as "Selfless", "Intelligent", " Private" and "Loyal". In 2012 she moved to Freeport to spend time with Shaunette and her family. August 2014 she returned to her hometown to live out the remainder of her days, where she succumbed on Monday, October 20th, 2014. God said, " Well done my good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and shared your master's happiness."
