Obituary

"He who dwells in the secret place of the most high, shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. I will say to the Lord "He is my refuge and my fortress: My God in Him i will trust (Psalm 91: 1-2).

A TIME TO BORN.....In the quiet settlement of Arthur's Town, Cat Island, Susanna and Alfred Lightbourne gave birth to a gem of a baby girl on December 30th, 1922, they called her Carolyn Louise. " Carrie or Pretty Girl" affectionately called, being the third eldest cared for her three brothers and six sisters. She was educated at Arthur's Town All Age School. Upon leaving school she relocated to Nassau where she started a life on her own. 'Carrie' worked in the Restaurant Industry, for many years while having her children Five(5) in total, she then turned to Housekeeping. Being an independent, honest and striving woman she secured and maintained many premises.

In 1964 on her Birthday, she married Arthur James Holland Johnson (deceased) and moved to the western area of the Island with Three of her five children. After giving up her life in Central area of Nassau, she said goodbye to her Church Transfiguration Baptist on Market & Vesey St., and joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Farrington Road. Putting God first she quickly took up post in the Prayer Band Choir, Missionary society and mid-day Prayer Meetings.

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR.... What you would call Carolyn with her bright colors and bubbly personality, she made herself known wherever she went and would bring them home with her to meet the Family, For the last few months Carrie health, started to decline making her frailer by the day. She could not speak, but she understood. She would nod her head in answer yes or no. She was taken to the hospital on few occasions only to be discharged and sent home.

A TIME TO DIE......This radiant gem called Carrie had a very jovial spirit and always had a smile on her face. On Wednesday July 25th, 2012 she was visited by her Pastor Rev. Wilton Strachan and Sis. Helen Rolle. They prayed and sang songs with her. After a joyful visit from her grand children while sitting in her chair, this gem slipped peacefully away at 5:15p.m.
