Obituary

The Beginning: It was a warm summer morning on the island of New Providence on the 27th day of August 1970, when Stanford Johnson and Lucetha Burrows welcomed their beautiful baby girl into the world. From the moment they looked into her eyes they were captured. They knew she was going to be someone special, so they named her Deborah Johnson.

A Time for Education: Time quickly passed and as Debbie (as she was affectionately called) spent a few years with her grandmother in Mayaguana, the place where she acquired her love for church. She began her early education at Yellow Elder Primary, attended C. H. Reeves Junior High and completed her schooling at Government High School.

A Time to Work: Debbie was a charming and beautiful young lady and upon completion of her education she started her first job as a cashier at Super Saver. She remained there until she joined Asa H. Pritchard as a switch board operator in 1997. She excelled rapidly and was soon elevated to the position as Sales Clerk, a post which she held until her demise.

A Time to Wed: While working at Super Saver, Debbie met a charming young man named Michael Kelly who swept her off her feet and captured her heart. On December 7th, 2013 she was excited to be granted her heart's desire when they were married.

A Time to be Debbie: Debbie found much enjoyment in going to church, working and taking care of her family. She was a quiet and reserved person. She was always talking about the Lord and although she was not the oldest she encouraged her siblings and family to get their life right and learn how to forgive and move on. If you happened to catch a ride with her, she would always be playing her gospel songs and singing along with them, thus her sisters nicknamed her "Evangelist".

A Time to Depart: On Monday morning, June 23, 2014, just as quietly and peacefully as Debbie lived; she departed.

A Time to Reflect: Though Debbie is no longer with us she is still very near. Don't grieve for her, for now she's free. She left no guilt only laughter to the end. She knows how much we care and she hopes that we will carry on normally. She wouldn't want us to shed a tear; she wouldn't want us to grieve. Forever she will want us to think about the good times and the days we spent with her. Just the memories surrounding the word someone may say can recapture a time, a memory in our hearts today that bring her back as clearly as if she were right here and fill us with feelings that she is always near. Don't grieve, don't stress, don't worry for the memory of her will forever be locked away in our hearts. She will never be too far. She achieved success, done well and loved her family and friends to the end. She always looked for the best in others and always gave the best she had. Debbie was an inspiration and meant so much to us. May our hearts forever be filled with the love that she has shared and the precious memories of our dear, Debbie.
