Obituary

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above
rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so
that he shall have no need of spoil, she will do him good and
not evil, all the days of her life."
Proverbs 31: 10-12

On July 9th, 1947, in the tranquil settlement of Mangrov Cay Andros, joy filled the hearts of Michael and Elizabeth Bastian(both deceased) as they welcomed the third addition to their growing family, a bouncing baby girl whom they named Dorolyn.

Dorolyn grew up in Kemp Road amidst family and friends. A neightborhood filled with love, joy and good times. She received her education at the Eastern Junior and Senior High School in Nassau, Bahamas. She grew to become an industrious and hardworking individual and sought gainful employment at the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (Batelco). In 1969, Dorolyn was later transferred to Grand Bahama and shortly after began working at Grand Bahama Port Authority. There she remained until retirement.
In 1967, Dorolyn met a young man by the name of Livingston Fox (predeceased) that, as the saying goes, 'caught her fancy'. They courted for a while and two years later in 1969, they were married. This union was blessed with three children: Livingston, Felicia & LeVar. Shortly after the holy matrimony of Livingston and Dorolyn, they relocated to Grand Bahama.
Family life was of extreme importance to Dorolyn. She loved all of her children and did her endeavor best to provide them with everything that they needed. Just as a mother eagle guards her young. Dorolyn's wings covered her immediate family. She nurtured, loved, and instilled values and morals within them that she deemed necessary to mold them into who they are today.
Passive, soft spoken, proud, sincere, no nonsense; are jus a few words to describe Dorolyn. She was one who always voiced what she felt and although with a voice so hushed, when she spoke everyone heard.

Early on, Dorolyn was diagnosed with Diabetes, a condition that she struggled with almost her entire life. As she grew older her struggle became that much harder to bear. She fought the fight for as long as she could but our God, who promises to lift our burdens when it becomes too heavy to carry, decided that it was Dorolyn's time for relief. On the 5th day of March 2013, she was instructed to lay her troubles down and go to the place where there is no pain, no suffering. Dorolyn went home to Glory.
