A TIME TO BE BORN
A beautiful baby boy was born to the union of Drexel Alexander and Margaret Major on June 15, 1968. He was given the name Drexel Lysander. He was the eldest of his siblings.
A TIME TO GROW UP
He was affectionately call "Junior" by his family and friends. Drexel was adventurous and eager to learn everything there was to know. He was determined and showed true leadership ability. At an early age he took the role of a protector of his mother and siblings after the passing of his father. Knowing this, the role of a leader came into play.
A TIME TO LEARN
He attended Mable Walker Primary School and later went to Jordan Prince William High School. Throughout his high school years he participated in almost everything he could possibly be a part of. He was actively involved in the Student Christian Movement and also participated in sports, mainly, bowling, volleyball, softball, track and field. His last year of high school he served as Head Boy and graduated in June 1985.
A TIME TO LABOUR
During high school, Drexel worked as a packing boy at Super Value Food Store and after graduating he was employed full time. Shortly after he became a taxi driver working for his Uncle, Anthony Williams (deceased). He wanted to pursue a new career so he went to work as a tile layer along with his uncle Leo. This led him to relocate to Abaco in 1987. During the slow period of construction and tiling he started working with Abaco Water System in January, 1989 and later became General Manager of the company from 1990 until he had an accident in January 2002 when he became a paraplegia. In 2003 he became Commissioner of The Bahamas Scout Association until his demise.
A TIME FOR LOVE
On June 3, 1993 Drexel married Bernadette Newbold of Dundas Town, Abaco. From this union came his heart's desires, Maverick (his lion of strength), Donovan (his compassionate warrior) and Branee (his beloved princess).
A TIME FOR WORSHIP
Drexel loved the Lord and the Church. He attended service from an early age with his parents and later he obeyed the Gospel and was baptized into the Lord's Church. Drexel loved singing and therefore became a song leader at a very young age. He taught Bible classes and was a youth leader at the Church of Christ in Abaco.
A TIME TO GIVE
Through his love and compassion for others Drexel became a member of a few non-profit organizations (The Bahamas Boys Scouts Association, The Rotary Club, The Governor General Youth Awards program, The Bahamas Red Cross) He had a friendly demeanor and would always give words of wisdom when needed. After his tragic accident on January 19, 2002, Drexel changed his perspective of life, inspiring
others to live their lives to the fullest. His heart rendering story became a life of counselling to those who just wanted to give up. Drexel helped many who had lost hope and became depressed. He was a light in their time of darkness.
A TIME TO MOURN
On May 10, 2015, Drexel was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital for an illness beyond his con-trol and there he was attended by doctors who were unable to stabilize him. God saw that he was tired and having struggled with his condition for thirteen years, Drexel was called to his eternal home at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 12, 2015, for his work on earth was completed.
