Obituary

"There is a time to be born and time to die", unttered Solomon a truly wise man.

It was on the 5th day of May in the year of our Lord 1934, in the settlement of Little Creek, South Andros that Ezekiel and Alicia Sands became the proud parents of their third of nine children. They named him Eldridge Sands.Later he was affectionately called "Doc".

Eldridge attended the Pleasant Bay All-Age School, until reaching his teen years, as was the custom in those days. At the age of Twenty two he married his true love Ellen Roberts. This union was blessed with nine children.

To earn a living he took to the seas at an early age. During the early fifties, he migrated to the United Stated of America by way of the "Contract" and labored in several states. Later, he returned to The Bahamas where he continued in the fishing industry as a fisherman and an entrpreneur. This he enjoyed immensely.

On January 1, 2013 he fell ill and was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was admitted. His children ensured that he received the medical care needed and consistently visited and attend to his every need. On three occasions he was to be released from the hospital. This was not to be, for on February 1st, 2013 he fell asleep to await the resurrection.
