Funeral Service Announcement

Funeral service for Elverna "Vernie" James, age 85, a resident of Seventh Street, Coconut Grove, Nassau Bahamas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday January 9, 2026, at Christ The King Parish, Ridgeland Park West. Officiating will be Cannon Stephen Davies, assisted by Reverend Anatol Ferguson. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, John F. Kennedy Drive and Gladstone Road.

Mrs. James requested that you wear bright, happy colors to the service. A lover of flowers, you are invited to bring a stem from your garden to the service to honor her life.

She is survived by her daughters: Evadnie Wilson, Erica Moiah James, Keshia James-Hicks; grandsons: Rohan Wilson, Myles, Noah and August Hicks; sister: Zel Lockhart; brothers-in-law: Lorenzo Lockhart, Dennis Marshall; nieces and nephews including: Brandon Burrows, Kevin Lockhart, Mika Lockhart, Krista Burrows, Pina Davis, Stanya Davis, Corrington Burrows, Craig Burrows, Olliemae Tynes, S. Anthony Brown, Terri Braynen, Allison Levarity,  Devon Burrows, Jasmine and Keva Lockhart, Taylor Knowles, Melia Cash, Noelle Davis, Ivan James Jr., Harry James, Ivan James, Ervin James, Troy James, Abigail Minus, Jackie James, Sabrina James Flowers, Eldora James, Sharon James; godchildren: Anthony Braynen and Picella Forbes; other relatives and friends including: Father I. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at Cedar Crest Funeral Home and Crematorium Ltd., Robinson and Baillou Hill Roads on Thursday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
