Obituary

On the 1st of July, 1934 a bouncing baby girl was born to the late Mildred "Millie" and Nathan "Buddy" Bastian, in the picturesque settlement of Mangrove Cay Andros. Oh! It must have been a beautiful day, for our mother was a very radiant and an extra special person. She was named and christened Eulalee 'Eula' Bain.

EARLY DAYS

Eula as she was affectionately called was nurtured and loved by her parents and was the eldest of eight children, two of which pre-deceased her Lemuel and Nathaniel Ezekiel Bastian. She received her early education at the Mangrove Cay All-Age School. Upon leaving school she spent her days being a role model to her siblings and wanted the best for them. She was always willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.

A TIME TO LOVE

On the 9th May, 1956 Eulalee married Lawrence Holly Bain (Deceased). Together they were blessed with six children; Christine, Irene, Reuben, Dexter, Ishmael and

Martin. Eula was an industrious woman who worked untiringly to support her family. She was a jack of all trade; seamstress, community workers, musician, counsellor and an excellent cook.

Eulalee worked diligently in her church. She was a member of the church choir, A.C.W. the Prayer Band and the Auxiliary. She was musically inclined and taught all her children to sing and play the organ. At times she could be heard playing the organ while Ishmael played the trumpet.

Eulalee was a no-nonsense person and a good disciplinarian who did not spare the rod to spoil the child and "boy, she could beat". She had a keen sense of humor; she enjoyed making her children, grand children and friends laugh.

You had to know her, to appreciate her. This was the only year she did not bake her ham, turkey, peas 'n' rice with coconut milk and her delicious macaroni. Everyone was called to get their share especially her sons and all of her daughters (in-laws). She was a giver, loved to share!

In early May, 2010 Eulalee health started failing. She experienced two broken ankle and later a broken left leg. After spending a few days in hospital, she was discharged and was well taken care of by her sons and grandsons, Tokino, Desmond and Kendron. On the morning of the 8th December, 2014 Eulalee was re-admitted to hospital after suffering a mild stroke. She fought hard to survive, but on the 27th December, 2014 at approximately 10:35 a. m. She passed on from life to eternity. HER LOVE THAT SHE SHARED WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!
