Obituary

Frances Reverta Fraser
(February 2nd, 1922 – July 21, 2014)

On a beautiful February 2nd morning in Deadman's Cay Long Island, the lovely Frances Reverta was born to Herman and Melissa Ann Edgecombe. She joined her older sisters Minerva, Erma and Roslyn and was later joined by her brother Reo; all having predeceased her.

Shortly after, the family relocated to Nassau and settled into the Fox Hill Community. She attended the Fox Hill All Age School, where she excelled in both academics and sports. Frances was known from an early age as one of the fastest students to ever attend this school.

After her schooling, Frances worked for a short time at a Bakery. This is where she met the dashing Ernest Bertram Fraser and they were married shortly after.

This union produced five wonderful children, Astrid, Ernest, Garth, Patsy and Warren. Yet that was not all. Having such a heart of love and service, and after her sister Erma relocated to New York, Frances was happy to take care of her nieces and nephew Melissa, Rachel and Levi.

After a short time in Freetown Lane, the Fraser family moved to Montrose Avenue - the heart of "the Valley". This is where Frances grew and flourished as the "Jewel" of the Valley. People from as far north as Sears Hill and as far south and Pinedale all knew and loved Frances. Her love and caring nature was like no other.

As the years went by Frances became a Grandmother and this was indeed her crowning glory. She poured her love into each and every-one of her Grand and Great-grand Children. She made sure that each one felt important and loved. Many evenings her grandchildren would sit and watch her paint portraits, listen to her play the piano, sing gospel songs or tell old scary stories from her days in Chippingham. But her most loving display came on every Saturday afternoon when family from all over the island descended on Shirley Street, to get a piece of her homemade bread which until recently was a closely guarded secret!

Frances loved to travel and during the 90's until her health started to deteriorate, she looked forward to the Autumn season because that always meant going to visit her grand-daughter "Cookie" in London. She loved Europe, and visited countries such as, France and the United Kingdom on many occasions. Frances also visited many cities throughout the US and Canada.
