Obituary

On April 18th, 1935 a Baby Boy was born to the Proud Parents of the late Vernal and Louise McNeil (nee Thompson) and they named him George Nelson.

George Nelson was affectionately called "Dickie" by his friends and "Nelson" by his family members.

After leaving school he received gainful employment and worked as an "A 1" Carpenter for Gunite Pool Construction, Sunco Construction, Cargill Construction, Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries and Chris Blackwell at Compass Point. He loved what he did and doing what he knew best up to the time of his illnesses.

Apart from Carpentry, Nelson loved sports in which he played Softball with the Cee Bees Softball Team in the 1950's and Cricket with the St. Agnes Cricket Team in the 1960's, he was also a Pole Vault Jumper and a Jockey at the Hobby Horse Race Track.

In May of 1962, Nelson Married the love of his life Vanria Marcelle (Nee Butterfield) and the union was blessed with three (3) wonderful children, Stephen George Nelson, Stephanie Vanria and Sonia Nicole.

Nelson was a believer in God he loved his wife and children and was a great provider to his family.

He was an avid reader of the daily Newspapers, keeping up with the latest news until the time of his hospitalization.

After battling Kidney and Heart Disease for a number of years, on Friday, June 12th of this year Nelson was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital and again on Tuesday, August 4th. On Friday, August 7th at 12:00 am he got home sick for Heaven and slipped into Eternity.
