A TIME TO BE BORN
On November 6, 1956, in the quiet and pristine settlement of Mortimer's, Long Island a beautiful baby girl was born to Iris and Arthur (both deceased). They named her Iris Rebecca.
A TIME TO GROW UP
Iris was humorous. She was always a joy to be around but when given the opportunity to be in charge of her younger siblings, she would be very firm with them.
A TIME TO LEARN
She received her early education at Mortimer's All Age School and continued her education at C.I.Gibson were she successfully completed and passed subjects in the Bahamas Junior Certificate exam. She attended Toya's Typing school, which was located on Shirley Street at the time and pursued typing and basic office procedures to enhance her skills
A TIME TO LABOUR
Iris was a hardworking, ambitious, helpful and dedicated individual who believed in the dignity of work. She started her career working as a Security Officer and later worked at A.D. Hanna's Law Firm for a number of years. She also worked at Family Guardian Insurance Company as an Agent for a short period of time. Iris was also an entrepreneur, working for a period of time as a lunch vendor. After relocating to Cat Island she worked at Hawks Nest Resort. However, she relocated to New Providence to find stable employment where she joined the Wyndham Nassau Resort as a Cook in the Staff Cafeteria from 2007-2012. In 2014 Iris also worked at Dupuch & Turnquest Law Chambers for a few months.
A TIME FOR LOVE
In 1991, Iris met Raymond Rolle and they were married in August of 1992. From this union came two beautiful daughters, Keandra and Kenderia. Iris was a dedicated mother to her children.
A TIME FOR WORSHIP
During her early childhood, Iris attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Long Island. In the late seventies, she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and attended Baptist Bible church. Iris enjoyed riding the church bus to church and went with other church members on church visitation and later became a Sunday school teacher. After she got married, she lived in Cat Island for a few years and after returning to New Providence, she attended Abundant Life Bible Church and Calvary Deliverance.
A TIME TO MOURN
On Wednesday, June 24, 2015 Iris was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital where she died two days later. God saw that she was tired and called her to her eternal home at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 for her work on earth was completed.
