Obituary

On the cool autumn morning of October 4th 1945, a baby boy was born to the proud parents Allan & Eloise Smith. He was given the name James Allan Smith and was affectionately called Jim. He was cherished from the moment he entered this world.

He received his early education at the Rock Sound All Aged School in Rock Sound Eleuthera. At the age of 15 he relocated to New Providence and attended Eastern Senior School until completion. At the age of 17, James joined the work force as a mechanic apprentice at Carey's Service Station Wulff & Claridge Roads. He later joined Bahamas Pavers Heavy Equipment under the watchful eyes of his uncle Victor Sands.

In 1968 he was joined in matrimony with Carolyn Fisher, that union produced three children; Racquel, Dameion & Asheran. Jim was an exceptional father and grandfather who was loved dearly by his grandchildren. He would go above and beyond to ensure that they needed for nothing.

In 1994 being the highly skilled mechanic he was, he joined the staff as Service Manager at Executive Motors where he remained until he retired. In 2007 James married his long time love Gloria McClure who loved him until his demise.

On Friday October 12th he was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital following a brief illness. On Monday October 15th @ 6:45pm with his three children at his side, he silently said goodbye and went to meet his Maker.
