Obituary

It was on a calm Wednesday morning on the 28th day of January, 1931 in the picturesque settlement of Berry's Long Island. A beautiful baby girl was born to the late Walter and Lorinda Major, They named her Jessie Louise.

She attended the Roses All Age School under the tutelage of Alphonso Turnquest and Theadore Glover. She was always an "A" student and well loved by her teachers because she was brilliant.

Jessie met and fell in love with her true love Samuel Darville, they were married on November 5th, 1952 by Cannon Colinwood Cooper at St. Agnes Church.

Jessie was an industrious young woman, a seamstress by trade; she also worked at Willy Weks Bicycle Shop on Bay Street. Being an obedient wife she was willing to stay home and care for her children. This union was blessed with eight children, one predeceased her.

Jessie had a strong faith in God. She loved to attend church at Christ the King whenever the doors were open, especially 7a.m. Mass. She was an active member of the ACW and Prayer Band. Jessie loved to travel, she was in the travelling committee of Christ the King her partners were Betty Stubbs and Lorinda Smith.

On March 10th, Jessie was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital and quietly passed from this life to another on the 14th of March 2014. Jessie is with her Savior.
