Obituary

JOANN ELIZABETH SAUNDERS (NEE HANNA)
JUNE 24th, 1948 – SEPTEMBER 20th, 2015

JOANN, born in Nassau, N.P., Bahamas passed away peacefully at Doctors' Hospital on Sunday, September 20th, 2015 at 7:30 am, after a brief illness.

Joann was married to Weston Saunders, and the union produced three children, Rhonda, Simone and Mario. Weston was an immigration officer, who was given the opportunity to work on many of the Family Islands throughout The Bahamas. Joann was a God-fearing, loving and devoted wife and mother, who never complained when the time came for the family to pack and to relocate. As a public school primary school teacher, Joann taught on each of the many islands including New Providence, Bimini, Inagua and Grand Bahama. After surgery on her vocal chords, some years later, Joann reluctantly resigned from teaching to work in the accounts department with Mosko Construction. Shortly thereafter, she began employment at The Automotive & Industrial Distributors (A.I.D.), where she remained committed and dedicated for nearly 40 years, until retirement in early 2014.

Joann shared her love for God with everyone she came in contact with. She was very active in various ministries within her church, The Parish Church of The Most Holy Trinity, Stapledon Gardens, as well as in her community, where she was adored and respected by all. Joann, a virtuous and graceful 'Tower of Strength' prayed to God with her heart. She sought God's protection and guidance in every area of her life, as well as her family. Joann enjoyed family time with her children, grandchildren and other relatives. She insisted that everyone live in harmony, peace and love.

Joann will forever be remembered for her generous, supportive, warm, caring, loving, kind and honest nature. Her memories and legacy will continue to live on through the wonderful friends and family who will forever hold her dear to their hearts.

The Hanna and Saunders families would like to thank everyone who made a positive impact on the life of Joann Elizabeth Saunders over her lifetime, and especially over the past two and a half months. They would also like to thank Dr. Beverton Moxey, Dr. Sheena Antonio-Collie, Dr. Juliette Dorsett, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Tulsa, Ok., and the doctors and nurses in EMS, ICU and on the Third Floor at Doctors' Hospital.
Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a] 2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
