As the sun peaked upon the horizon, on the 25th day of September 1969 on the tranquil Island of New Providence. The homes of Naomi Gaitor (predeceased) and Bernard Rolle were blessed with a healthy baby boy, who was the eighth child. It was indeed a joyous occasion. As customary, Naomi chose to name her handsome son after the Biblical patron Saint Stephen, who entered this life full of joy and hope.
Stephen was a quiet, obedient, and trust worth individual who loved to attend classes. Stephen was an enthusiastic and inquisitive student who enjoyed learning. He began his academic and school career at the Mable Walker Primary School. He advanced to H.O. Nash Junior School and graduated from C.C. Sweeting High School as one of the top students in class earning a 3 point grade average. Stephen was a brilliant student: he specialized in carpentry (woodwork) construction curriculum as his special talent and gift he possessed. Upon leaving school, his hardworking demeanor guided and propelled him to find employment by Cavalier Construction Company. Stephen enhanced and improved his welding skills as he was sought after by many renowned Wielding Companies. More recently, he was gainfully employed with Albany Development Company as one of its top Notch Welders.
Stephen was a family man, well known in the Coconut Grove Community. He was a helpful ambassador; very much loved he was extremely generous with his time and tried to help those in need. Stephen "Scrubba" affectionately called by many, was a responsible provider. He recognized that all of his pay check did not belong to him. The principle of giving was embedded in his being and his mindset. He was a blessing to many as he demonstrated it in his everyday living.
Stephen was a special even attendee to church fellowship. He was religious and a strong believer in Jesus Christ. He was moved and acted on the great commandments of "Love Thy neighbor as thyself" he was extraordinary, in this respect as he was surrounding by friends and neighbors constantly.
Steve sojourn through life led him to the place of his father's birth, Cat Island, where he matriculated his family bonding with many aunts and uncles there. He worked in Dawds, Laying the foundation for his siblings to acquire birth right heritage. Steve also resided with his grand dad in Farrington Road for many years, Together with his brother. Eric they were a pillow of strength and admiration in the close knit community.
