"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith. Hence forth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day." 2 Timothy 4 -7
On the 23rd day of June 1974, a beautiful baby girl was born to Eric and Essie Cummings-Duncombe (both deceased). They named her Laura Rochanda, she was affectionately called "Laurie."
She was raised in a close knit community of Police Officers in Grand Bahama called Trip Circle. She then attended Mr. Mackey Pre-School and St. Vincent De Paul. After she came to Nassau she attended Yellow Elder Primary School. Her mother suddenly passed when Laura was seven years of age. She continued on to S.C. McPherson where she received her high school education and became a part of the graduation class of 1978.
Her father remarried Carolyn Carter-Duncombe where she gained a new mother and two siblings, Erica and Mario.
After graduating: Laura was employed at Super Saver Discount from 1993-1999. Thereafter she was employed at the Wyndam Nassau Resort and Crystal Palace Casino (Now Melia) as a Safe Count Attendant from June 1999 until her demise.
In 2006, Laurie was diagnosed with Renal Kidney Failure. Through her strength and courage she continued to work and remained full of life. On the 8th Day of November Laura was hospitalized at the Princess Margeret Hospital where she succumbed to her long term illness on the 18th day of November. It was this day Laura received her complete and final healing as she slipped away to be with her blessed Lord and Savior.
