Obituary

Life of our mother - Mrs. Leta Forbes was affectionately called "Mama, Mommy, Layle, Aunty." She was the fourth child born
to the late Jacob and Lillian Morris on April 22nd , 1917, in Driggs Hill, South Andros. Mommy fell in love at the tender age of
16 with Harcourt Livingstone Forbes. This union was blessed with nine children. Mommy was a dedicated and devoted wife and
mother. She was pre deceased by her husband and two older sons Fitzroy and Basil. Our mother was a faithful servant of God, she
served in the choir, was a Sunday school teacher, prayer leader and called the mother of her church, St. Luke's Baptist Church. She
was a loving and caring daughter to her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews and all those who came in contact with her. There
are many phrases that can describe her; she had a heart of an angel, she possessed the character of a modern day Lyddia. Mommy
would entertain anyone who knocked at her door. Strangers were always welcomed and Androsians from Mangrove Cay to Mars
Bay can a test of her love and generosity. She extended her home and provided for those in need. She showed compassion by
visiting those who were sick. Our mother espoused the virtues of Proverbs 30. She worked as head of laundry services for many
years at the Las Palmas Hotel in Driggs Hill. She was a community builder, a strong businesswoman, a gifted home-maker, an
outstanding cook, and a courageous stalwart of justice and fair play.
At 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday the 12th of March 2013, Mommy boarded the early morning train to glory. As she lay in bed adorned
with a heavenly glow all around her, she was the picture of a saint called by God. Even the attending physician commented on
her passing and said, "Your mother has gone home," and he repeated it.
