On the 8th of November, 1917 a baby girl was born to Olive Duncombe-Dames and Joseph Dames, and they named her Lillian Dames she attended Long Bay Cays All Age School.
After completing school, Lillian moved to Nassau where she was employed as a cook. There she met and married her beloved Edward who pre-deceased her. She loved children so much; she raised several of her cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. She was an active member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Long Bay Cays, where she served as a member of the ACW. She lived in many different places, including Freeport where she worked and practiced her culinary skills in Henry's restaurant. After spending a short time in Freeport, she returned to Andros and worked as a cook and a farmer.
Lillian will be especially remembered for her quick wit, jubilant spirit and sociable personality. As a result, many of the Anglican priests could boast of her hospitality. She told many humorous stories of how she fell down in holes while catching crabs, and could often be heard boosting about her super natural strength, and capabilities of lifting and wrestling any male counterpart. Lillian live out the remainder of her days at the home, where she succumbed on Monday, April 27th, 2015.
