Obituary

A Time To Be Born....
On the 22nd day of January 1941 in the picturesque settlement of Clearence Town Long Island, a beautiful bouncing baby girl was born to the proud parentage of Samuel Bowe and Gertrude Adderley(Nee Minnis). They named her Matilda Eleanor Bowe.

A Time To Achieve...
Matilda received her early education at Clarence Town All Age School where she continued as a teacher for a few years. She started her working career at "I need a Laundry" and moved on as a clerk at Cole Thompson Pharmacy. She continued at the Russell Dept Store and finished her career at the General Post Office where she worked in numerous departments.

A Time To Love, Marriage And Family....
Matilda married Nathaniel Frederick (Tan), the love of her life, on March26, 1965. They enjoyed 47 years of marital bliss where they had five children of which two survived, Kevin and Keva (aka Keeva da Deeva).

A Time To Live....
"Matilda", "Aunt Tilla", "Mama Rolle" and "Mama" as she was affectionately called, was loved by everyone she came in contact with. She was respected and admired by all. She would give away her head if it wasn't attached to her body. Matilda loved to help her family and friends and wend overboard to make sure that everyone was straight.
It was never about how she would die, but how she lived: not what she would gain but what she could give: not what was her church, nor what was her creed but how she could befriend those in need. She was always ready with a word of good cheer to bring back a smile or to be that shoulder to lean on. These units measured her worth. She was a great woman, one who could never be replaced or compared to any other.

A Time To Die....
Matilda took ill in November 2010 and was called to a better place on the morning of Thursday March 8, 2012. Even though we love her, God had a better plan for her.

A Time To Mourn...
We mourn at this time, but with hope we believe that we will see Matilda again. She will always be in our hearts, as we reminisce on those special times we had with her and thank God for lending her to us for seventy-one wonderful years. Even though she is gone, she'll never be forgotten, for her special touch, her smile, warm gestures, kindness and love would always be a part of us.
