Queen Viginia Coliie-Rusell was born to the parentage of the late Stillman Alexander and Shuden Mary Collie (both deceased) in the quaint little settlement of Betsy Bay, Mayaguana, on March 18th, 1951. She was the couple's first child and daughter; hence the roal name Queen. She was their pride and joy. Queen's reign as queen of the family was not briefly interrupted due to the arrival of their second child and daughter Ruthmae, whose arrival did not rain on Queen's parade, nor did the arrival of the four children, including their first son Leroy. Queen was the apple of her father's eye.
She was an extrovert, a jolly child which was evident by the numerous friends she made. The encounter may begin rocky, but at the end of the interaction, a strong friendship was fostered. She was never afraid to ask questions, or to ask who are you? Or where are you from? She engaged in conversations very easily.
Her early education began at the Southern Prep School, presently Steven Dillet Primary School, Pirates Well All Age School (Mayaguana) and the Southern Junior and Senior Schools. Queen left school at an early age and sought employment to supplement the family's income. Her father had migrated to the United States to obtain gainful employment on the contract. While employed the Eddie's Department Store, she performed many duties that she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Newell Russell, Since, then she volunteered to perform extra errands in hope of seeing her love again. Following the appropriate courtship, they were joined in holy matrimony by Reverend Tlmadge Sands. This union was blessed with two beautiful children Cressentia Stacey (predeceased), and Nowell Leslie Jr. It was Queen's desire to have ten children. Queen was a faithful and dutiful wife. She stayed at home and took care of her family and home.
When the children became school age, Queen felt the yearning to become more active; therefore she returned to the employment market and gained employment in the hotel industry. She performed her duties with excellence and obtained numerous awards. She remained in the hotel field until she lost her sight due to complications of diabetes. Queen hope and prayed that she would regain her sight. Despite surgery on the both eyes, she never regained her sight.
Her health began and in May 2014 she was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital where she treated for complication of diabetes. She was discharged from hospital on May 24th 2014, the day of her daughter's death. She never recovered from that blow and subsequently was readmitted to hospital on July 28th, after lapsing into a diabetic coma. She was discharged from hospital on Saturday, August 9th 2014. In the quiet tranquil morning of Wednesday, August 13th, 2014, Ms. Queen put her hands in that of her heavenly father. She exchanged time for eternity and kissed this world good-bye. There she will link with her mother, father, sister, brother, all of whom predeceased her.
