Semi-Military Funeral Service Announcement
Semi-Military Funeral service for Reserve Police Sergeant Lionel Ian Strachan, age 84, a resident of Glengariff Gardens, Nassau Bahamas and formerly of Freeport Grand Bahama, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday December 5, 2025, at Victory Baptist Church, Sea Breeze Estates. Officiating will be Pastor Ivan Carey, assisted by Pastor Patrick Rolle. Cremation will follow.
Lionel will be lovingly remembered by the wife of his youth: Mabel Strachan; daughters: Rochelle Inglis, Devaughan Pinder, and Dominique Strachan; adopted son: Antonio Bullard; grandchildren: Briana (Kevin) Lopez, Alahna Jones, Zahra and Zakai Pinder; brother: Lester Strachan; nephews and nieces: Neil, Reginald, Ruel, Stephen, and Andrew Strachan, Monique and Rachelle Strachan; cousins: Marilyn Darville, The Honorable Ruby Ann Darling, Fanny Pletka, John Cooper, Pauline and Burgess Winder, Cleomi Saunders, Merle Jones, Reverend Charles Lewis, Primrose Chase, Reverend Dr. Reuben Cooper Jr., Bertha Rousseau, Nathaniel Cooper, Carmella Andrews, Heather Humes, and Wendy Dames; godsons: Barron and Sean Adderley, and Kenton McKenzie; relatives and friends including: Charles and Phillippa Taylor, Steve and Georgia (Pinky) McKenzie, Stanley Stirrup, Ellen Adderley, Irma Adderley, Christine Hall, Prophetess Jannette Cunningham, Jamari, Grace, and Wendia Gibson, Monty Pinder, Symphony Pinder, Evangelist Barbara Francis, Kenequeka Stuart, Delvin Beckles, Mark Demeritte, Kingsley, Gwendolyn Sweeting, Julita Ingraham, Elton and Robert Ferguson, Virginia Deleveaux, Pastor Patrick and Adline Rolle, Michele Tingley, Robert Ferguson, Charmaine Salama, Celine Ferguson, Conville Deleveaux Jr., Wilver Deleveaux, Lanita Strachan, Essel Spruill, Ryan Deleveaux, Kelli and Cara Rolle, The Royal Bahamas Police Force Reserves, Grand Bahama, Department of Social Services Grand Bahama and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects at The Paul Farquharson Center, East Street North, on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at the Church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
