Obituary

Troy Eddins Bruce Taylor

On August 29, 1982, in Nassau, Bahamas, Captain Eddins and Rosalind Taylor (deceased) were blessed with a beautiful baby boy whom they named Troy Eddins Bruce. He was the second of four children born to this union.
As a child, Troy was loving, kind, intelligent, inquisitive, and adventurous. Although Troy was not the oldest in the family, he took his role of older brother to Donnovon and Eddina seriously, and was especially fond and protective of them. In their younger years, Troy and Donnovon were inseparable.
Proverbs 22:6 states, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." In accordance with this Scripture, it was ensured that Troy and his siblings were trained in the way of The Lord. As such, Troy was an active member of Community Holiness Church where he forged many life-long friendships. At Community Holiness, he was a member of the Boys' Club and youth choir. Additionally, Troy and his cousins were regular fixtures at the church's annual Vacation Bible School, where they reigned as Bible quiz champions.
Troy attended St. Andrew's School from pre-reception until 12th grade, and graduated from the school in the year 2000. It was during his pre-reception years that he met his life-long friend Justin, who became like one of Troy's brothers. While at St. Andrew's, Troy excelled academically, socially, and athletically. In fact, Troy was a member of the school's basketball, track and field, and championship-winning soccer teams, and had the opportunity to compete nationally within the BAISS. Troy further distinguished himself as a track star by winning numerous sports awards and breaking the school's 400 meter record.
Upon graduating from St. Andrew's, Troy enrolled in New England Institute of Technology in West Palm Beach Florida, where he pursued and was successful in attaining a degree as a Computer Technician, and obtained certification as an official Microsoft Technician. Upon returning home to Nassau, Troy was hired by the Micronet Company. Under the Micronet umbrella, Troy was awarded the opportunity to meet many diverse individuals from all around the archipelago and the world. Troy's expertise in technology, coupled with his charismatic and cheerful demeanor, drew clients to him, to the extent that when Troy left the Micronet Company, many of his former clients followed and contracted him personally to maintain and repair their computer systems. They only wanted Troy.
Troy's clients were not the only benefactors of his computer proficiency; his family members and friends benefitted also. It was well known that Troy could be called upon to diagnose and fix any computer, electrical or appliance problem within a short space of time. If Troy could not repair a computer, he would simply say to you, "You need to buy another computer," then proceed to recommend one for you. And it was true that if Troy couldn't fix it, it was probably irreparable.
Troy later worked alongside his father in his shipping company, Pirate's Well Investments Co. Ltd, where he excelled and became a key component in the company's day-to-day operations and success.
Troy was not just a computer whiz, but also a natural genius, a nature enthusiast, and a traveler. Troy's love of learning and natural intelligence led many of his family members, particularly his cousins, to believe that he knew everything about everything. As a child of about nine or ten, he declared to one of his cousins that he was undertaking the task of building a motorized go-cart by disassembling the lawn mower's motor and using it in the wooden cart he had built; his mind was always going. A simple comment or observation by a family member about a device, animal, or plant would prompt Troy to give an accurate explanation as to how the device works, what the animal's instinctive tendencies were, or where the plant originated. These informative soliloquies would leave the listeners in awe as to the vast amount of knowledge Troy had amassed.
As a nature-lover, Troy knew much about plants and was especially fond of animals, especially dogs. Whenever his cousins would visit the house, he would take them on a tour of their yard in which he would identify all of the trees and plants. With regards to animals, Troy kept and reared a diversity of pets during his childhood, inclusive of goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, lizards, and, of course, dogs. Even as an adult, Troy kept and loved his kennel of dogs.
Troy also loved to travel. As a child, he looked forward to annual family trips with his immediate and extended family to Florida, where they would all stay in the family's Vistana timeshare, and where a visit to Busch Gardens was mandatory every year. He was also a domestic tourist, having had the pleasure of visiting most of the Family Islands, and often engaging in fishing trips with friends.
Troy lived a full and fulfilling life and was loved by many. On the morning of April 27, 2014, he slipped from time into eternity. His warm and affable nature, infectious smile, and hearty laugh will be missed. May his soul rest in peace.
