ZONICA TERAEL WALLACE, was born on June 20th, 1972 in Nassau, to James and Joycelyn Wallace (nee
Delancey), Zonica was the baby of this union, and grew up in the family's home on Greenway Drive, Golden
Gates # 2. The child with the distinctive eyes respected her parents and got along well with all her siblings.
A loving and close family, her mother Joyce is an Anglican, who focused on her children and had high
expectations of them. Zonica was baptized and confirmed in St. Barnabas Anglican Church. In earlier years
Zonica was involved in The Junior Achievements Program, The Progressive Young Liberals and The South
Andros Association, it was during this period she made some lifelong friendships and where she developed a
reputation as the go-to-person, opinionated, smart, bold, resourceful, fun loving and the life of the party, who
would always do or say something to make you laugh.
Zonica, "Zonnie" as she was affectionately called, began her early education at William Gordon Primary School.
She then continued her education at S.C. McPherson Junior High School and graduated from Government
High School in 1989. She also pursued her Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration at Sojourner Douglas

Zonica was always smart, ambitious, hardworking and independent, shortly after graduating from high school
she entered in the work force at ZNS- The Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas, she then moved on The
Supreme Court Registry and then on The Ministry of works in the Dept. of Physical Planning, where she was
currently employed at the time of her passing.
When we think about Zonica's life the words big, generous and glamorous comes to mind. She not only had
a big smile and physical presence, she also had a big heart and shoulders for her family and friends to lean
on. Zonica did everything on a BIG scale. She entertained big, cooked big, had big cars, and brought large
quantities of everything, because she always wanted to have more than enough of everything for her family and
her friends. Indeed Zonica's family and friends were her priority. She was always there for everyone, and she was
generous with her time, love, and advice and always true to her word. She treated her nieces and nephews like
prince and princess and always did special things for them including vacations and of course, shopping which
Zonica love to do. Zonica was as glamorous as a queen, when it comes to hair, Makeup, Jewelry and Fashion,
she was always on point, her choices were chic, elegant, and always appropriate for whatever occasion.
Zonica led life with her heart. She was grounded in giving to others and doing for others and would always
put others before herself. As long as her family and friends were happy Zonica was happy. The characteristic
of loving, giving and humor won her many friends across the Bahamas. She made friends easily everywhere
she went and left a lasting and positive impression, all because of Zonica beautiful smile, and her distinctive,
infectious laugh.
Zonica was an authority on many subjects and passionate about many topics especially Bahamian politics. She
knew little about sports but whenever the season came around (Lakers, Heat and Dolphins were her teams) She
loved Bahamian Music and Junkanoo (The Valley Boys was her group) and she would always make her opinion
and position known. One year at her birthday party she actually had a live band (Piccolo). Zonica would find
humor in everything; she always knew how to make the best out of every situation. You could always depend
on her for up-to-date information, which she was always willing to share in her own unique style, making them
both entertaining and funny.
